For those of us who avoid nightshade foods and dairy, finding a good condiment or sauce to add flavor to food can be challenging. Check out my lemon tahini recipe as an alternative to dairy or tomato-based sauces to add that zing to your food.

Ingredients

  • 2 organic garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt, more to taste
  • 1/2 cup well-stirred tahini (Middle Eastern sesame paste)
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice, organic
  • 1/4 cup filtered water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh cilantro, organic
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh flat leaf parsley, organic
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Chili pepper, to taste

Directions

Mince garlic, then mash to a paste with sea salt. Mix together garlic paste and remaining ingredients until combined well. If you don’t like parsley, then double up on the cilantro. Add more cilantro if you like. More cumin can be added if you like.

This can be used as a chunky salad dressing or as a dip for raw vegetables.

Enjoy!
